On June 27, 1462, Louis d'Orléans, son of Charles I d'Orléans, was born at Château de Blois. He became King of France in 1498 under the name of Louis XII; the medieval château of the Counts of Blois became the royal residence, and Louis made it his main residence, to the detriment of the château d'Amboise.
