In 1791, Henry de Courtemanche sold the "abandoned and very run-down" château for 300,000 livres to Marquis Charles de Biencourt (1747-1824), page of the Queen's stables in 1761, marshal of the royal camps and armies, deputy of the nobility to the Estates General of 1789, then to the Constituent Assembly. He gave it its current appearance, making profound changes to the interior and exterior. His descendants kept it until 1899. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Château_d'Azay-le-RideauPrice
