The Panavia Tornado is a two-seat, variable-sweep wing, multirole combat and reconnaissance aircraft, which was developed jointly by the UK, Germany and Italy. It is one of the few aircraft in the world that is able to fly fast at low levels, day or night, in all-weather. In 2016 - 25 years after 'Operation Desert Storm', when the RAF helped to liberate Kuwait from Saddam Hussein's forces - the RAF Tornado GR4 ZG750 was painted in the iconic 'desert pink' camouflage scheme, to honour the aircraft's service. The 'desert pink' Tornado, nicknamed 'Pinky', is based at RAF Lossiemouth and carries 11 'battle honours' on its tail, which recalls the aircraft's worldwide operations since 1991.
