The seat of a bishopric since the 4th century and sub-prefecture of Calvados, Bayeux is famous for its tapestry depicting William the Conqueror's conquest of England in the form of embroidery. The tapestry is on display at the Centre Guillaume-le-Conquérant and has been on UNESCO's Memory of the World register since 2007. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bayeux
