Pegasus Bridge is the name given to the Bénouville bridge after the Second World War operations on June 6, 1944, in honor of the British paratroopers whose emblem was the winged horse Pegasus. It was inaugurated on March 11, 19451. It was located on the canal from Caen to the sea, in Normandy. During Operation Deadstick, part of Operation Tonga, the code name for the capture of the bridge was Euston.
Its seizure by British commandos, who arrived by night in gliders, was one of the high points of the Normandy landings on D-Day.
The original bridge was replaced by a similar but longer one in 1994.https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pegasus_Bridge
