Comment

Hallock & Bates sold dry goods (textiles, clothing, and related items) in lower Manhattan. Burling Slip was one of several slips used to dock ships on the East River between wharves. It was filled around the time of this Hard Times token creating a street named Burling Slip, which is now called John Street.
