Chapelle Saint-Pierre, Villefranche-sur-Mer's fishermen's chapel, probably dates from the second half of the 16th century.
Gradually, a more material use was added to the religious aspect: the building was used as a shed for fishermen's nets and equipment. As an inscription on its façade showed in the early 20th century, it was the fishing court where the fishermen of the Prud'homie des pêcheurs de Villefranche settled their disputes.
In 1957, Jean Cocteau designed and produced a painted decoration covering the entire interior of the chapel. He also worked on the façade. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chapelle_Saint-Pierre_de_Villefranche-sur-Mer
