Lake Annecy is a French lake located in the Alps, in Haute-Savoie, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. In terms of surface area, it is France's second-largest glacial lake after the nearby Lac du Bourget, and with the exception of the French part of Lake Geneva.
The lake was formed at the end of the Würm glaciation, between 17000 and 15000 BC, when the great Alpine glaciers gradually melted. It is fed by seven streams and torrents originating in the surrounding mountains and a powerful sublacustrine spring. The basin is bordered to the north by the Annecy conurbation, to the east by the Bornes massif, to the west by the Bauges massif and to the south by the Faverges region, which extends the Bout-du-Lac. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lac_d%27Annecy
