The Carnac site has probably been occupied without interruption since the 5th millennium BC, although precise dating is lacking. There are no fewer than 140 megalithic sites in the commune, most of them scattered on hillsides or on estates.
The Pointe Saint-Colomban site was occupied as early as the beginning of the Paleolithic period (around 450,000 years ago): people settled on an ancient pebble beach at the base of a cliff during an interglacial climatic episode; choppers and small tools made of quartz and flint flakes were found, used by the homo erectus who lived there at the time. https://fr. wikipedia.org/wiki/Carnac
The blazon of the commune of Carnac on the token does not represent the exact coat of arms.
