Comment

Julien Clopin, esquire, member of parliament, was elected mayor in August 1703. He remained in office until 1711. He bore Or, a pine tree Vert, a chief Azure charged with two mullets Argent.
Amanton relates the following anecdote: "When François Baudot left the magistracy, he had a fluxion in his leg which caused him to limp, and as he was replaced by Julien Clopin, this gave rise to the following epigram by M. de La Monnoye:
Peut-on, lorsque Clopin en maire est érigé,
Et qu'en boiteux Baudot chemine,
Not say: Clopin en Baudot est changé
Et voilà que Baudot clopine?"
