Comment
This token was part of the “Holland Coin Fair” coin set, with the theme “Een nieuwe vorst, een nieuwe munt” ("a new monarch, a new coin"), and more specific about the coin production under King William III:
Unlike the earlier Dutch Coin Fair tokens that have a 3 o'clock alignment, this token (and all other tokens in the “A new monarch, a new coin” series) has a 9 o'clock alignment, since the portrait of King William III on the set token is placed on the same side as the portrait of Queen Beatrix, whilst the caduceus is on the opposite side.
