The Trans Europe Express "Bavaria" of Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) is a "luxury fast diesel-electric train", which ran until 1971 between Zurich and Munich. In the 1950s, this category of trains had been put to the test in a collaborative effort by the Swiss and Dutch railways to make international high-speed rail traffic more comfortable, faster and therefore more attractive.
