Token from the Café du Commerce in Schifflange. The establishment was owned by the couple Thérèse Rubens and Nicolas Lippert. The parents of both were also café and cabaret owners. Nic. Lippert's parents owned establishments in Differdange and Niederkorn at the turn of the century. Thérèse Rubens inherited the Café du Commerce in Schifflange from her parents.According to Weiller, the couple took over the Café du Commerce in 1953. However, the Lippert-Rubens couple had already been running the establishment since 1944. Following the death of Nic. Lippert in 1957, Thérèse Rubens ran the café for many more years.
Weiller type token no. 50, commissioned by Auguste Nimax and minted in 1949 in quantities of 300 at the Fisch & Cie workshop in Brussels. The hole at 12 o'clock was perforated later, following a change in the price of beer.
