Lac de Serre-Ponçon is a man-made lake in the Hautes-Alpes region of the southern French Alps, on the border between the Hautes-Alpes and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence departments. It was created in 1959 by the construction of a dam on the Durance River, two kilometers downstream of its confluence with the Ubaye. The hydraulic system is completed by the Lac d'Espinasses at the foot of the Serre-Ponçon dam, from which the EDF Durance canal is fed. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lac_de_Serre-Pon%C3%A7on
