The imperial type ducat of Charles IV. was minted starting in 1355. Ducats of Charles IV, unlike the other European sovereigns rulers, where minted only in small quantities because of the limited natural resources of gold and jílovských Kašperské down. Therefore, today, Czech coins are very rare. The Ducat obverse bears the authentic bust of the Czech King and Roman Emperor Charles IV with imperial insignia - the crown jewels. Thes Ducat, minted from almost pure gold, were the highest-quality monetary denominations Gothic and served as currency mostly in international trade. Despite the huge economic and political rise of Bohemia, paradoxically, declined the quality and grade of the Prague Groschen. Towards the end of the reign of Charles IV, it was decreased to the content of a silver penny at just 75%, the first Prague groschen contained at the time of its introduction in 1300 about 93% of silver.
