Linked to the philanthropic movement of the Enlightenment, he granted annuities to religious institutions in his hometown, for their social works. In 1782, he founded a drawing school that still exists today under the name École de La Tour.In 1784, suffering from senile dementia, his family moved him back to Saint-Quentin.
