Lefèvre-Utile was founded in 1846 by Jean-Romain Lefèvre, a native of Varennes-en-Argonne in the Meuse region and younger brother of the founders of the Lefèvre-Denise cookie factory in Nancy and the Lefèvre-George cookie factory in Sedan.
