The first exhibition in France dedicated to renowned British artist Grayson Perry, "Vanité, Identité, Sexualité" runs from 19/10/2018 to 03/02/2019 at La Monnaie de Paris. His works in ceramics, metal, tapestries and prints are ironic, gritty reflections on universal issues such as identity, gender, class, religion and sexuality.Grayson Perry plays with his own identity, which becomes an integral part of his work and goes beyond the boundaries of the art world. Autobiographical references to the artist's childhood, his family and his alter ego Claire go hand in hand with questions about being and appearing, social class and trends, and the status of the artist versus that of craftsmen.
The Comfort Blanket mini-medal represents one of Grayson Perry's best-known works, the famous 8-metre-wide tapestry. Comfort Blanket, with its flamboyant colors, shows us the welcoming face of the "Pre-Brexit" United Kingdom. The tapestry contains a caricature of Queen Elizabeth II, which is reproduced on the mini-medal.
