Douai's new travelling carillon and P'tit Jehan. The latter takes its name from Douai's carillon tradition, since the first carillonneur hired by the town in 1391 was Jehan de Lourdel. P'tit Jehan was created to mark the 20th anniversary of the first travelling carillon.
The story of Douai's first Carillon Ambulant began on November 7, 1981. It made its final journey to Dordrecht in Holland, where its bells have been installed in the campanile of the town hall since 2005. The new Carillon Ambulant de Douai was commissioned on November 7, 2003, twenty-three years to the day after the inauguration of the first one. The inaugural concert of the new Carillon Ambulant de Douai took place on July 3, 2004, at Gayant Expo, Douai.
