Comment
This token represents the Brou monastery in stamp form. With its sumptuous church and three cloisters, this site was built between 1506 and 1532 in the countryside around Bourg-en-Bresse, then part of the Duchy of Savoy. It has survived virtually intact. The monastic buildings and cloisters, which were built first, are a purely regional achievement. The church, begun in 1513, is of Flemish inspiration.
