Comment

On July 30, 1830, Charles X withdrew the orders of the 25th, suspending freedom of the press, dissolving the Chamber of Deputies, convening the electoral colleges and modifying the electoral system. Thiers and Mignet appealed to the Duke of Orléans, who accepted the Charter. In Nantes, clashes resulted in several casualties, the only ones caused by the July Revolution in the provinces. The next day, the Duc d'Orléans accepted the lieutenancy-general of the kingdom. On August 9, he took the oath to the Charter and became Louis-Philippe I, King of the French.
