This medal commemorates the Uman National University of Horticulture, one of Ukraine’s oldest institutions of higher education. The history of the university dates back to 1844, when a vocational college of horticulture was founded in Odesa. The college was later moved to the town of Uman, the home of the Ukrainian horticultural tradition. The college was tasked with training professional gardeners and experienced horticulturalists. What started out as a small provincial college is now a top agricultural university with rich traditions, a unique history, and a complex of research and production facilities that offers a wide range of interesting occupations that meet the demands of the labor market.
