There is a conventionalized dynamic arrangement inspired by Yulian Kraikovskyi’s painting The Chortkiv Offensive. The painter participated in those events. At the center, against a smooth background is a warrior on horseback. Behind him are the contours of two horsemen; to the right is the semicircular legend ЧОРТКІВСЬКА ОФЕНЗИВА (the Chortkiv Offensive); below is the legend 07 – 28.06.1919 (7–28 June 1919), denoting the dates of the offensive military operation.

Comment

This commemorative medal is dedicated to the offensive operation of the Ukrainian Galician Army – the Chortkiv Offensive – intended to liberate the entire territory of the Western Ukrainian People’s Republic. The battle took place on 7–28 June 1919. The Chortkiv Offensive came at the height of the Ukrainian Wars of Independence of 1917–1921. It testified to the fighting spirit of the Ukrainian people, and set an example of national dignity and bravery for generations to come.
