On 1st May 1965, the world famous Red Arrows were established, officially known as the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team. Their first official display was a media event on 6th May at RAF Little Rissington, and their first public display was on 9th May, at the French Air Force base Clermont Ferrand. Since then they have become one of the world's premier aerobatic display teams, with their combination of close formations and precision flying. The Red Arrows are the public face of the RAF and have performed over 4,800 times around the world, amazing spectators with their displays of speed, agility and precision. The Red Arrows act as ambassadors for the Royal Air Force, the Armed Forces and the United Kingdom.
