On the second of February two thousand and twenty-two (2-2-2022) King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima have been married for 20 years. Even though the wedding ceremony was already two decades ago, many Dutch people can still vividly remember the wedding day of the Crown Prince couple. Adios Nonino, Maxima's tear, the yes, the balcony scene with the kiss, for many moments that will be etched in the memory forever.
The couple has three daughters, Amalia, Alexia and Ariane. The media are given the opportunity a few times a year to record the development of the daughters. Willem-Alexander and Maxima believe that children can grow up as normally as possible by being shielded from the media. Willem-Alexander and Maxima have been our king and queen for many years now. Of their daughters Amalia, Alexia and Ariane, Amalia and Alexia have even (temporarily) left the parental home.
Although Willem-Alexander once said that being a king is not a "duo job", Maxima is not indifferent in her role as queen. While Willem-Alexander, in addition to his formal duties, dedicates himself to the population of our country in a unifying, representative and encouraging role, Maxima fulfills numerous functions in the social field, both nationally and internationally.
Willem-Alexander and Maxima can safely speak of good "teamwork" when it comes to the representation of the Dutch royal family.
