In the foreground, the 106 m high Belfry of the Hôtel de Ville stands in front of the Déesse, a column erected in 1842 on the Grand Place to celebrate the city's resistance during the Austrian siege of 1792. On either side, the Porte de Paris, Arc de Triomphe, erected between 1685 and 1692 to commemorate the capture of the city by Louis XIV in 1667, and the façade of the Vieille Bourse, dated 1653.
