Comment

The league of European powers arrayed against France had to be confounded at all costs, and rest and peace finally secured. Savoy first extended its hand to our overwhelmed homeland, and the four treaties signed in 1697 at Ryswick made Holland, Spain, England and the Emperor lay down their arms. And so, satisfied Burgundy represented, in the form of birds, its three Orders rushing after its governor towards the monarchic star shining in the heavens.
