This Hard Times token celebrates the first electoral victories of the new anti Jacksonian Whig party. Their candidates won a number of state and national legislative elections in 1834. It is likely that this token was issued after the November elections.HT-15 is R-6 with 13-30 known examples. This is also found in other rarer varieties, HT-15D in white metal with a reeded edge and HT-15E in brass with a plain edge.
