Settlement of Nicolas Dusemon and Anne Conter. Nicolas Dusemon, originally from Befort, marries Anne Conter in 1896. In 1913, he left his native village to open a café at 101 rue de la Poste (now rue de l'Alzette) in Esch-sur-Alzette. In 1925, he sold his café to the Walsdorff-Pauls couple and reopened a new establishment at 45, rue du Canal (formerly rue de Rédange). Around 1930, he expanded his activities and opened a household appliance store at rue C.M. Spoo, also in Esch-sur-Alzette. Café Dusemon-Conter also had a large meeting room, which was used for cultural, political and social events. On July 1, 1937, he ceased his activities and the establishment was taken over by Nik Paulus-Hoffmann. The present token, which was used for bowling, could be used as payment until June 30, 1937. A café with a bowling alley still exists at this address.R. Weiller does not mention the change of address of the establishment in 1925, and the dates of occupation indicated by R. Weiller are wrong.
The Dusemon-Conter couple had 3 different tokens minted. The present token is Weiller type n°60, minted by the Thevenon & Cie workshop, whose intermediary house remains unknown. This type was issued between 1920 and 1954. The Café Dusemon-Conter token can therefore be dated between 1920 and 1937.
