Establishment of Charles Artois and Berthe Schoetter. Charles Artois, from a watchmaking family, ran a watch and jewelry store in Dudelange from the 1920s onwards. He diversified his business over the years, and in the 1930s set up a hat shop at 75, avenue Grande-Duchesse Charlotte.
Charles Artois was a founding member of the Dudelange philatelic club, a founding member of the "Le Stade" soccer club and, in 1937, the first president of the "entente des chapeliers".
Charles Artois died in 1974. The business was taken over by his son Gaston Artois and then by the widow Elvire Artois-Schmit.
