The Singapore Mint Lunar Rat Medallion depicts a pair of adoring rats encompassed by the plum blossoms. Rats are a prosperous symbol of longevity and fertility. The Chinese character of rat “鼠” shares the same pronunciation as “数”, which means calculation, and in Chinese belief, the good blessings to count their wealth. Hence, the rats also commonly signify prosperity and fortune.

Plum blossoms are not only captivating, they bloom vibrantly amidst the cold which symbolise determination and tenacious spirit. The five petals of plum blossoms represent happiness, blessings, longevity, success and peace. The reverse side of the medallion features “如意”, signifying the blessings of wishes come true for you and your family.
