Comment
The Singapore Mint Lunar Rabbit Medallion features a pair of rabbits surrounded by fresh blooms of Pink Cyclamens. Due to its resemblance to rabbit ears when blooming, Cyclamens are nicknamed as "兔耳花" in Chinese which directly translates to “rabbit ears flower”. In Chinese culture, rabbits are auspicious animals that symbolize intelligence, compassion, and fertility.Accompanied by radishes in the background, radish is pronounced as “菜头(cai tao)” in the Hokkien dialect which sounds like “彩头”, meaning good luck. Having radishes during the lunar new year marks a good start for the year. The reverse side of the medallion features “吉祥”, sending auspicious blessings to everyone in the new year.
