Comment
This replica is an imitation of the 1859 Ansei Koban (1 Ryō) coin, but it also uses two additional round Kiri crests on the obverse, which are only found on the larger Oban (10 Ryō) and Tempo Era (1837-1843) 5 Ryō coins.
As of 2024, this replica coin is sold at the Kinkaku-ji Temple tourist gift shop, along with an accompanying card which reads “A small coin that saves money. If you put this small coin in your wallet, you will save money.”
