Inaugurated on April 28, 1923 for the British Empire Exhibition of 1924, it became England's national stadium. Wembley hosted the 1948 Olympic Games, the 1966 Football World Cup final, won on home soil by England, and many other sporting and musical events. "Known as the "Temple of Football" according to the footballer Pelé, the stadium was recognizable by its famous Twin Towers. As part of the 2012 Olympic Games, it was decided to demolish the site. The stadium was demolished in 2003 to make way for a new arena, Wembley Stadium. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stade_de_Wembley_(1923)
