L’HÔTEL DES MONNAIES

Comment

In 1838, Nice was under Sardinian sovereignty, hence the presence of a French consul.
This official visit by a French diplomat to the Monaco Mint was an implicit endorsement of Monegasque coinage.
France changed its mind shortly afterwards under pressure from King Charles-Albert of Piedmont-Sardinia.

This medal is also available in silver, copper and lead flan, thickness 49g.
