Victory Celebrations were held across the UK on 8th June 1946, following the end of WW2 in August 1945. The Burgh of Milngavie is a suburb of Glasgow in Scotland. Thomas Fattorini Ltd of Birmingham manufactured this medal using the obverse dies from their series of coronation medals in 1937.
