The Lübecker Pferde-Eisenbahn Gesellschaft was taken over by the AEG in 1893. The management was transferred to the "Allgemeine Lokal- und Straßenbahn AG" (ALSAG) in Berlin, which runs the routes electrified and carried out the operation. Operations on the first line began on May 12, 1894. The cars ran in one-man operation with a payment box system.
