September 6, 1519 marked the birth of Chambord, when Francis I commissioned François de Pontbriand, his chamberlain, to order all expenses incurred in the construction of the château. From that moment on, Chambord was the site of an immense architectural creation, initially intended not as a permanent residence, but as a new hunting lodge annexed to the Château de Blois, which the king would live in for only 42 days during his 32-year reign. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ch%C3%A2teau_de_Chambord
