Knowledge of the cave goes back to time immemorial. A first exploration was conducted on July 15, 1780 by Benoît-Joseph Marsollier des Vivetières. The first visit that allowed us to really get to know it was in 1889 when Édouard-Alfred Martel, a famous speleologist, went there. The visit was then perilous. It is from 1931 that it was fitted out. It is now open to the public. Its entrance is located on the commune of Saint-Bauzille-de-Putois. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grotte_des_Demoiselles
