Comment
The site was chosen because it was far enough away from the town and on the banks of the Huisne, between a marsh and a road. The monks proceeded to drain and reclaim the land. It also became a branch of the Huisne to provide the water they needed for their community life. The abbey's layout follows that of Cistercian abbeys.Little is known about its construction. However, the shape of the capitals gives an idea of the construction stages: chapel in the church transept, sacristy, chapter house, monks' hall, refectory. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abbaye_de_l%27%C3%89pau
