The Lunar Rooster medallion was released by the Singapore Mint as part of the Zodiac series medallion. The medallion was presented in a folder which included a 1989 $1 Periwinkle coin and a 1992 $2 Ship-series banknote. The folder was issued with a large red hongbao envelope.The set was usually purchased as a gift during the Lunar New Year festivities and given in lieu of the more traditional red packet.
