The Lunar Dragon medallion was released by the Singapore Mint as part of the Zodiac series medallion. The medallion was presented in a card which included a 1988 $1 Periwinkle coin. The card was issued with an accompanying red hongbao envelope.The set was usually purchased as a gift during the Lunar New Year festivities and given in lieu of the more traditional red packet.
