Viação Novacap is a Brazilian urban public transport company in the city of Rio de Janeiro. It is a municipal concessionaire, being affiliated with Rio Bus.
Its name comes from the contraction of the words "New Capital", in homage to the new capital of the country, Brasília, inaugurated on April 21, 1960. It is based in Vila Valqueire.
Brief history.
Founded in May of 1961, in 1981 acquired by the current group of partners, owning one of the newest fleets of the municipality of Rio de Janeiro with average age of 2.2 years. Novacap is the fourth company in Rio de Janeiro that carries the most gratuities (old people, students of the public network, disabled people, etc.).
Currently, the company has a fleet with 145 buses and employs 784 employees, acting in the connection between neighborhoods of the suburb of the North Zone.
After the standardization imposed by the municipal public power in 2010, it left its original colors and began to adopt the painting of the Transcarioca Consortium.
