Formed by a group of French people, the Companhia Geral de Melhoramentos had the objective of getting in touch with the railway structure in the region. But he decided to go further and acquired Engenho Cucaú. What was actually being built at that time, which is now one of the largest generators of employment and income in the state. The Usina Cucaú development project gained shape and momentum when it entered a new phase, starting in 1943, the year in which businessman Armando de Queiroz Monteiro acquired the enterprise.
Armando took on the challenge of modernizing and making Cucaú one of the largest sugar producers in Pernambuco. And this dream passed from the father to his sons Armando, Múcio and Rômulo, starting in 1989, when the businessman died.
