UNITAS is an annual maritime exercise. In 2023, UNITAS was hosted by the Colombian Navy and included 20 participating countries (Belize, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, France, Germany, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Spain, South Korea, United Kingdom, Uruguay, and the United States).
South Atlantic Force (SOLANT) was originally established on September 3, 1942. On February 17, 2000, it was renamed United States Naval Forces Southern Command (USNAVSO) and on February 28, 2023, redesignated as USNAVSOUTH. The command engages with the navies of South America, Central America, and the Caribbean. The original SOLANT participated in the annual UNITAS since 1960.
