The Torrington PTP (Progress Through Precision) token was minted onto pewter planchets during the "T" Torrington Company trademark era https://trademark.trademarkia.com/t-progress-through-precision-72232614.html(1965-1968) at one of its own plants. The token was given annually for precision performers and most managers regarding quantities. Mintages were small due to the numbers of plants and awardees. There is a noticeable difference in the Die after 4 years of use.
As seen in this picture of a 3rd year production, showing worn relief, smooth edges - 2 dots representing 3rd year of service as 1st year had no mint mark. The planchet was also thinner, averaging 2.6 mm and the final product had no antiquing.
* Noted in the first issue the finish was crisp and lustered an antique finish.
Promo items bearing the "PTP" trademark such as Key-chains, shirts, hats, money clips, etc. were procured by other vendors and and given out also.
The Torrington Company was a firm that developed in Torrington, Connecticut, as a leading manufacturer of anti-friction bearings and other metal parts. Torrington was a Fortune 500 company.
