Stockholm Nya Spårvägs AB was a traffic company in Stockholm that existed between 1876 and 1917 .In 1872 , Stockholm's Spårvägsaktiebolag was formed, which applied for the construction of tramways in the city. For various reasons, the work did not work and the entire project expired. As early as 1874 , the company was dissolved.
Two years later, it was time for a new attempt, and on March 12, 1876, the Articles of Association were established for a new tramway company. However, the authorities did not accept that the new company had a name that was identical to the former why the name became Stockholms Nya Spårvägsaktiebolag with abbreviation SNS. The company received a 40-year concession for tram traffic in Stockholm. For different reasons, the right to build trams at Södermalm was never used. The company therefore came to be called the "Northern Railroad Company".
The business began with the commencement of traffic with horse trams on July 10, 1877. In 1903 the tram was electrified. On January 1, 1917, the company's network was taken over AB Stockholm's Railways as part of the coordination of tram traffic in Stockholm. The company entered into liquidation on January 30, 1919 .
