The organization provided years of work to hundreds of Ostend citizens.SEO was founded on October 24, 1892, originally under the name "Cooperative Thrift Society" (Samenwerkende Maatschappij Spaarzaamheid). What began as a small cooperative company founded to purchase coal, grew over the years into a grand association. Their aim was through cooperation and joint efforts to establish a company that would deliver quality goods at the Ostend population at affordable prices
