Comment
This token was part of the “Holland Coin Fair” coin set, with the theme “Een nieuwe vorst, een nieuwe munt” ("a new sovereign, a new coin"), and more specific about the coin production under King William I:
Unlike the earlier Dutch Coin Fair tokens that have a 3 o'clock alignment, this token (and all other tokens in the “A new sovereign, a new coin” series) has a 9 o'clock alignment, since the portrait of King William I on the set token is placed on the same side as the portrait of Queen Beatrix, whilst the caduceus is on the opposite side.
