This advertising token was issued in South Africa by Reader's Digest and is Catalogued in Hearn's Handbook on South African Tokens as #1227b on page 218 (2nd Edition, 2009).Very similar, if not identical, tokens were also used by Reader's Digest in America. It may be that this specific token, with no writing beneath the eagle, was specific to South Africa but there is no way to substantiate this at the present time.
